So looking forward to playing with Bill Crow’s Quartet this afternoon! The concert is part of the Rockland Symphony Orchestra’s series and is titled
Bill Crow Jazz Quartet – HOT Jazz for a Cool afternoon!
February 26 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Greetings Music Lovers!
I’ve been very remiss and have failed to keep one of my New Year’s resolutions: to write something every day. Happily I’m keeping another important one: to learn something new about WordPress every day.
New Year’s Eve was a blast. In the afternoon I entertained a wonderful group of seniors at the CareOne facility in Hanover, NJ. Then in the evening I performed with Rio Clemente, the Bishop of Jazz and his Abbotts as part of First Night in Morristown. In the band with the one and only Rio were Gene Perla on bass, George Andrews on drums, PJ Parker on vocals, and yours truly on guitar and vocals. What a fun concert! We had a large, responsive audience. As an added bonus we got to enjoy the second set by Frank Vignola and his Guitar Gods group. Frank and Vinnie Raniolo were on fire! And Nicki Parrott rounded out the group with her impeccable singing and bass playing.
Here are some pics Marcia took of the Abbotts:
New Year’s Day started off with another senior’s performance, Monday 1/2/17 started with a musical get together with Warren Vaché and Norman Edge and was topped off with the first gig at the Upstream Grille with Rio and the Abbotts. Today started with a musical get together with my pal Larry Maltz. From there I will move on to a performance at a CareOne facility in Paramus, NJ and end the day with some private lessons at Do Re Mi School of Music.
Two more days and three more gigs in 2016. Seniors this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon and First Night in Morristown with Rio Clemente, the Bishop of Jazz. The band – The Abbotts – will feature, along with Rio, Gene Perla on bass, George Fritz on drums, PJ Parker on vocals, and yours truly on guitar. We had a blast last year and this year should be even more fun. Come join us at Morristown United Methodist Church – 2 shows, 9:45pm and 10:45pm. Lots to look forward to in 2017, personally, professionally and musically.
Looking forward to getting married in June to my fiancée, Marcia McIntosh. Marcia and I knew each other in high school in Nutley, NJ. We reconnected early in 2016 and one thing led to another and…
Looking forward to some great gigs in 2017. From my regular Monday night at the Upstream Grille in Lake Hopatcong with Rio Clemente, the Bishop of Jazz and his Abbotts, to concerts with AMANI, to club gigs with some wonderful singers, to wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours, solo and with some marvelous players, to playing solo restaurant gigs, to having a great time entertaining seniors all over New Jersey – it’s going to be a great year for music. Looking forward to checking out some great live music.
Looking forward to pursuing my interest in web development and building some great websites. Right now I’m particularly interested in WordPress, hence this blog. I’m working, or should I say laboring, on incorporating some jQuery plugins that I’ve developed into WordPress blogs.
